By the grace of our dear Lord Jesus Christ, the CSI Church, Toronto completed 25 years of existence in the year 2011. This historical milestone was marked by a year long Silver Jubilee celebration. The Church Silver Jubilee closing function was held on Saturday June 30th 2012 at 4 pm at 1315 Kipling Ave, Etobicoke, with a thanksgiving service followed by a public meeting. As we glance through the history of the Church, the Silver Jubilee closing day was one of thanksgiving and gratitude.

The first worship service of the church was held on May 11, 1986 at the Wycliffe College Chapel, Toronto and it was conducted by Rev. Thomas Ninan. Since then the church grew under the pastoral care of dedicated men of God. It remained a living testimony of God’s mercy to people in and around as it grew in number and in spirit. The Church caters to the spiritual needs of children, youth, men and women through different ministries. We also foster the linguistic and cultural thread of our native land through the language class and its various activities.

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” Psalm 126:3 was chosen as the Silver Jubilee motto. It was decided to initiate 25 long term community and mission projects. As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, the Youth of the church organized a fund raising program titled “Destined to Worship” to help the Child Care Ministry of the Madhya Kerala Diocese, Kerala. During that year, a Christmas Cantata, House to House Caroling and Silver Jubilee Gospel Convention were conducted.

The Silver Jubilee closing function was attended by The Most Rev. Colin R. Johnson (Archbishop of the Diocese of Toronto), Rt. Rev. Thomas K Oommen (Bishop of the C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese, Kerala, India) and The Rt. Rev. Philip M. Poole (Suffragan Bishop – Diocese of Toronto, York-Credit Valley Area). In addition, several dignitaries from the government were in attendance.
