It is with profound sorrow that we received the passing away of Bishop Dr. Sam Mathew at Kottayam. A great man of courage, encouragement, enthusiasm and ecumenism, Thirumeni finished his race with faithfulness and perseverance. Thirumeni had a very deep sense of commitment. The Missionary endeavours initiated and nurtured by Thirumeni have a deep impact on many lives even now. Thirumeni was vivid on his convictions and actions. The attitude of Ecumenism in Thirumeni has contributed to the meaningful witness and existence of Churches in Kerala. During the days of sickness, Thirumeni could uphold a sense of gratitude, courage and hope. Even in his passing away, Thirumeni gives us a model to embrace the call of God to enter into eternity with gratitude and cheerfulness. A meaningful life fulfilled ….
