“ Prayer is… a treasure undiminished, a mine which is never exhausted, a sky unobscured by the clouds, a heaven unruffled by the storm. It is the root, the fountain, the mother of a thousand blessings. . . . The potency of prayer hath subdued the strength of fire, it hath bridled the rage of lions, hushed anarchy to rest; extinguished wars, appeased the elements, expelled demons, burst the chains of death, expanded the gates of heaven.”  The late Ravi Zacharias quotes the early church father Saint John Chrysostom when discussing the power of prayer.

Vision Statement

Although this current time may look much different than that which our early church fathers lived in, the power of prayer is just as relevant and arguably even more important today. And this is our Vision to stand firm in faith and to pray unceasingly

Mission

The Jordan prayer group hopes and prays that our church members’ experience is not limited to Sunday. As a prayer group, we want the church to experience “the seeking of God” to extend to each day of the week. Additionally by meeting as a group we hope that it is an opportunity to build deeper relationships with other believers and help mature each member in their relationship with Christ. The Jordan group looks forward to growing in our relationship with Christ alongside you

Eligibility Criteria

The CSI Church Toronto has 138 families of which currently 34  families are part of the Jordan Prayer group which consists of families residing in the  Brampton area.

Operational Structure

We hold prayers on the second week of every month on a Friday evening or Saturday depending on the hosting family’s convenience. Our prayer starts at 7 pm with Achen’s prayer followed by praise and worship. We believe that it takes a community to raise a child, so our prayer groups are an extension of our families.

Activities

We give importance to our children by including them in the reading of the Bible, giving time to recite memory verses, listening to bible stories and even giving opportunity to share their personal testimonies. Currently we have asked the children in the group to study a specific chapter from the book of Matthew. The children are asked to send questions earlier in the week in order for Achen to prepare the answers. This helps them to study the bible in an academic way, like they would be doing at school. Our group’s expectation is that children  and adults come prepared by bringing their bible and actively participate in all the discussions. The older children and youth have opportunities to lead intercessory prayer on the subjects which we are interceding.
