“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.”   Psalm 89:1

The CSI Church Toronto Choir is a vibrant, welcoming and dedicated group that is an integral part of leading the congregation during service. The choir assists in leading the weekly Sunday services by singing worship songs, assisting the Achen with liturgical responses, and overall creating a reverent atmosphere for worship. In addition, the choir presents special performances, including the annual Christmas Carol Service.

Currently, the choir consists of over 30 members, and we are continually looking to expand our ministry.

Vision Statement

To praise and honour God so that His Word is spread throughout the nations.

Mission

The main objective of the choir is to enable members to learn the fundamentals of music and voice in order to be used for the glory of God.

 Ages 10 and up

All prospective members must have taken baptism and believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and come with the intention to worship and glorify the Lord.

Joining the Choir

Applicants must first go through a three-month training period where they will only attend practices. Upon completion and approval by the Choir Director, they will be presented their choir gown and dedicated into the choir by the Presbyter. All choir members are expected to participate in all choir functions, including services and performances.

Previous Member Rejoining

Members of CSI Church, Toronto rejoining the choir after a break of six months or more must first be re-dedicated. The three-month training period does not apply to these members.

Members of Another Church Choir

Members of CSI Church, Toronto who have been dedicated into any other church choir can join, upon approval by the Presbyter and the Choir Director and following re-dedication. The three-month training period does not apply to these members.

Operational Structure

Singing in the church choir begins with a personal relationship with God and a heart for service. It is of vital importance that the Choir Ministry maintains an environment of Christ-centered dedication and commitment in order to cultivate stability and future growth.

Choir members are required to attend all rehearsals with an exception for emergent cases or unavoidable business commitments. If there are inconsistencies in attendance for special event rehearsals, the choir member may not be permitted to sing in the special performance, however this decision is ultimately at the discretion of the Choir Director.

The Choir Director maintains an attendance list for the group. Each choir member is expected to be on time for all practices, rehearsals and special performances. If a member is absent or late, it is imperative that the Choir Director be informed of this in advance.

Activities

Sunday Music

Every Sunday, the choir leads the worship service through songs and liturgical readings. The choir recognizes this responsibility, holding practices 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM, prior to the start of service.

Choir Retreat

Our choir operates year-round and we are so thankful to all the choir members for their commitment and dedication. Our Choir Retreat offers an opportunity to appreciate the family we have built over the years and recognize what we have been able to accomplish together in service to God, through music.

Christmas Carol Service

Every Christmas season, our choir presents a night of music and lessons in celebration of the wonderful birth of Jesus Christ. For months on end, our choir practices extensively in preparation for our biggest event of the year. All are welcome to join us for our annual Christmas Carol Service. This is an evening where you can experience God’s love by remembering His greatest gift sent to us, Jesus Christ our Saviour.
